Ben and I went on a trip to the Yucatan Penninsula in Feb ’05. We based in Playa Del Carmen, a charming town on the coast. The island of Cozumel is nearby, and we took a ferry out to visit for a day. I would say the highlight of our trip was renting a jeep wrangler and driving to Chitchen Itza, which is a huge ancient Mayan city in the middle of the Yucatan Penninsula. The site was amazing, and driving was an experience in itself! We also really enjoyed Tulum, a mayan ruin on the coast just south of Playa Del Carmen.
