Ben and I took a snorkeling tour of the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. This was by far the best snorkeling I’ve ever done, the fish and coral are straight out of a National Geographic special. There are tons of fish in all sizes, shapes and colors. And the coral is beautiful – I didn’t realize it could be so varied and colorful – purple, blue, red, orange, etc.
Our boat stopped in two places. The first was a little island where we snorkeled from the beach. The water was calm and beautiful, with tons of coral and fish right near the beach. The second stop was out in the ocean at the reef, which was a bit rougher sea but just as impressive. I even saw a tiny shark! (I’m told these ones are harmless… but I still turned and swam away quickly). The Great Barrier Reef was an unexpected highlight of the trip for me, and I’d highly recommend a trip out to see it.
Oh wow!! How cool!! Talk about saving the best for last (and a Dr. Seuss refresher to boot 🙂 I know I’ve said it many times, but I am sooooo jealous!!
Sounds fun but I don’t think I ever want to go swimming in the Ocean. Maybe I will change my mind later. =D
